What to Expect

A warm welcome, a time to worship, and a place to unplug from the stress of the week.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code. The pastor and worship leaders will probably be dressed professionally, but there is likely to be a variety of dress styles among the congregation. Frankly, no one really cares whether you wear a business suit or jeans and a t-shirt. We want you to be able to worship without being distracted or worried about what you are wearing.

What are services like?

Lasting about an hour, each service is designed to help you focus on God and genuinely worship through music, prayer, and a Biblical message. Depending on the week and the service, there are often other elements, including Scripture reading, reports from ministries that we support, or seasonal activities such as lighting Advent candles or flowering the cross at Easter.  

What is the music like?

Music has been a method of praise for thousands of years, and continues to be an integral part of worship today. An average Sunday morning service at Troy Holiness blends praise music and classic hymns as well. Our small orchestra is lead by a grand piano and includes talented musicians on a variety of instruments such as organ, violin, acoustic guitar, steel guitar, drums, saxophone, trumpet, and clarinet. We are often joined by visiting musicians that help provide special music during offerings and at other times in the service. When there are five Sundays in a month, the evening service is an all-music celebration of praise.

At Troy Holiness, you will find an uplifting worship experience that blends the best of contemporary worship music and timeless hymns of the church.

Are children allowed in service?

Absolutely – we encourage families to worship together on Sunday morning. You can always take your small children to the nursery if you’d like, but you’re also welcome to keep them in the service. God made children active and curious, and we love having them, even if they get a bit noisy or messy! There are kids’ activity bags available in the foyer, with toys and other activities to help keep children occupied. Pick one up before service and drop it off afterward so it’s there next time you need it.

What about money?

As a visitor, we prefer that you not give in the offering. Just enjoy the service, worship and listen to what God has for you.

Of course, every church needs financial support, and one of the ways to support God’s work is through the local church. But even for regular attendees and members, Troy Holiness has no stated requirements or obligations for financial donations. We’ve found that God uses His people to supply the needs of His church without pressure or shaming from us.

Will I be put on the spot?

No! We hate being pressured as much as you do. You won’t be called out in the service, asked to stand up, or singled out in any way. The only exception is a warm greeting and a welcome packet as you come in. We would love it if you returned the connection card from the packet, but it’s entirely up to you.
